Most days, there are 2 direct flights from Delhi: one morning (around 5:30 AM departure, lands 9:15 AM) and one afternoon (around 1:00 PM departure, lands 4:45 PM). The morning flight is best because you reach Port Blair by lunch and can start sightseeing the same day.

Connecting flights (cheaper but slower)

If you want to save money, IndiGo and other carriers offer connecting flights via Chennai, Bangalore, or Kolkata. These run Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000 but take 7 to 9 hours total. Worth it only if direct flight prices spike during peak season.

Getting to Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) from Delhi NCR

Delhi airport (IATA: DEL) uses Terminal 3 for Air India and Air India Express. Where you live in the NCR changes your travel plan significantly.

Tip for early morning flights: The Air India DEL-IXZ flight typically departs around 5:30 AM. Leave home by 3:15 AM from Noida or Gurgaon, and by 3:45 AM from South Delhi. Pre-book an Ola or Uber the night before. Delhi traffic is near zero before 5 AM so cabs are fast and prices are lowest.

The Airport Express Metro from New Delhi station runs from around 4:40 AM and reaches T3 in 18 minutes for Rs 100. Best option for Central Delhi travellers even on early departures.

What about ferries from Delhi?

There is no direct ferry from Delhi to Andaman. The government Shipping Corporation operates ferries only from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam. These take 56 to 72 hours and start at Rs 2,000. If you want the ferry experience, fly Delhi to Chennai or Kolkata first, then board the Andaman ferry.

For most Delhi travellers, direct flight is the right call. Save 3 days of travel time.

Best time to visit Andaman from Delhi

Honeymoon Package to Andaman from Delhi

Most Delhi couples book this in winter, flying out of a 10 degree morning and landing in 28 degree island warmth by lunch. We build the honeymoon around the quiet end of each beach: a private candle dinner at Havelock, sunset at Radhanagar, and a sea-view room kept aside for couples. Pace stays slow, no early-morning rushes unless you want the sunrise.

From Rs 15,000 per person on the Standard tier, up to Rs 36,500 for the luxury beach-resort tier (land package, flights extra). See the full Andaman honeymoon package or WhatsApp us for a Delhi honeymoon quote.

What Delhi travellers say about us

Rajeev Kapoor, Family of 4, Delhi (December 2025)

“Dekho Andaman handled everything for our 6N7D family trip. Pickup was on time, hotels were exactly as promised, scuba session for our 14-year-old was perfectly safe. Tauseef sir even arranged a vegetarian birthday cake on day 4 for my daughter. Will book with them again.”

Priya and Arjun Sehgal, Honeymoon Couple, South Delhi (February 2026)

“Booked their 5N6D honeymoon package with luxury tier. Symphony Samudra resort was beautiful. Private candle dinner on the beach on day 2, exactly as the package promised. The team checked in on WhatsApp every morning. Highly recommend.”

Sunita Aggarwal, Senior Couple, Vasant Vihar (November 2025)

“We are both 65+ and were nervous about ferry travel. Their driver Venkat made everything smooth. Hotels chosen for us were senior-friendly with lifts and easy room access. Pace was relaxed, not rushed. Worth every rupee.”

From Delhi to Andaman: the culture shift you will notice

Most Delhi travellers tell us the same thing on Day 2: the islands feel like a different country. Here is what actually changes when you step off the plane at IXZ.

The pace: Delhi runs on urgency. Horns, deadlines, traffic, news cycles. Andaman runs on tide timings and ferry schedules. On Day 2, most Delhi visitors stop checking their phones. Havelock has almost no mobile data and hotel wifi is limited. You are forced to slow down. Most people call this the best part of the trip when they come back.

The air: Delhi’s AQI in winter regularly crosses 300 to 400. Andaman runs on sea-salt air with almost no pollution. Most Delhi visitors describe the first Andaman morning as physically different, breathing feels cleaner. The humidity is higher (80 to 90%) but the sea breeze makes it bearable.

The food: Andaman is not a north Indian food destination. Expect fresh seafood daily (prawns, crab, barracuda, tuna), coconut-based curries, and steamed rice. Port Blair has a few north Indian restaurants near Aberdeen Bazaar. Havelock is almost entirely local seafood and South Indian options. Try Anju Coco Resto on Havelock beach road.

The people: Andaman is one of India’s most diverse places. Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Malayalam, Ranchi, and Nicobari communities all live together. Hindi gets you everywhere. Language is never a barrier in Andaman.

The ocean: Delhi is 1,500 km from any sea. The first view of the Andaman Sea from Radhanagar Beach is something most Delhi visitors describe as a top-5 life moment. Underwater visibility is 20 to 30 metres. Nothing like any mainland beach you may have visited.

Frequently asked questions, Delhi to Andaman

Q: How much does an Andaman trip from Delhi cost in total?

A: Per person, total cost (flights + package) for a typical 5N6D Premium trip is around Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000. Couples typically budget Rs 80,000 to Rs 1,00,000 total. Budget travellers can do 4N5D Standard for around Rs 30,000 per person including flights.

Q: Should I book the flight separately or through you?

A: We do not sell flights. Book directly via MakeMyTrip, Skyscanner, or the airline’s website. We can suggest the best timing and routes but you complete the flight booking yourself.

Q: What is the best month to travel from Delhi to Andaman?

A: October to April is peak season. January to March gives the best beach and scuba conditions. April to May works well for Delhi residents escaping summer heat. June to September has rain but 30-40% lower prices.

Q: Is direct flight necessary, or are connecting flights okay?

A: Direct flights save 3 to 5 hours. If direct flight is under Rs 13,000, take it. If it spikes to Rs 16,000+ during peak season, a connecting flight via Chennai or Bangalore for Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000 is worth the extra travel time.

Q: Can children below 5 join the package?

A: Yes, children below 5 are free on most packages. Children 5 to 12 are charged 50-70% of adult rate. Children above 12 are full adult rate.

Q: Can I customize the itinerary?

A: Yes, every booking gets a customized itinerary based on your dates, group, preferences. The package tiers above are starting templates.

Q: How does the booking process work?

A: WhatsApp us with travel dates and group size. We send a custom itinerary PDF within 24 hours. You confirm with 25% advance. We book hotels, ferries, cabs in your name. Pickup at IXZ airport. Final settlement at end of trip.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: Free cancellation up to 30 days before travel. 25% of advance retained for cancellations between 15 to 30 days. 50% retained between 7 to 14 days. After that, no refund.

Q: Do I need a permit or visa to visit Andaman?

A: No visa or permit for Indian citizens. Just carry valid government ID (Aadhaar / Passport / Driving License). Restricted island areas need additional permits which we handle for you.

Q: Is Andaman safe for solo female travellers from Delhi?

A: Yes. Andaman is one of the safer destinations in India for solo women. We have arranged trips for over 50 solo women travellers since 2018 with no safety issues.

Q: What about scuba diving for first-timers?

A: Discover Scuba Diving (DSD) does not need any swimming or diving experience. PADI certified instructors brief you on land, then take you 6-10 meters underwater for 30-45 minutes. Safe for ages 10 and above with no medical conditions. Our 30% discount applies.

Q: Will my mobile network work in Andaman?

A: Patchy outside Port Blair. Jio and BSNL work best. Download your itinerary, hotel addresses, and ferry tickets offline before you arrive.
