The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a destination that rewards visitors in any season. While peak season runs October to April, June offers something different: lush green landscapes, empty beaches, lower prices, and a version of these islands that most tourists never see. This guide covers everything you need for planning an Andaman trip in June 2026, including the actual ferry schedule for this period.

For 2026 specifically, the India Meteorological Department has forecast a below-normal monsoon season with rainfall at 92% of the Long Period Average. The southwest monsoon arrived over Andaman on May 18, a few days ahead of the forecast. The rains are already here, but this is expected to be a lighter monsoon year than average.

Travel Tips for Visiting Andaman in June

1. Pack Accordingly: Carry light breathable clothing, a packable rain jacket, waterproof sandals, and a dry bag for your phone and camera.

2. Plan Flexibly: Keep one buffer day in your schedule. Do not plan a tight itinerary with back-to-back sea-dependent activities on fixed dates.

3. Stay Informed: Check weather forecasts each morning. The IMD website (mausam.imd.gov.in) provides island-specific rainfall forecasts.

4. Keep Last Day in Port Blair: Never schedule your departure flight from Havelock or Neil Island directly. Always keep your final night in Port Blair before your flight. Ferry schedule changes in monsoon can affect your timing.

5. Book Morning Ferries: In June, always book the earliest available ferry as your primary inter-island travel. Afternoon sailings are more likely to be affected by wind or schedule changes.

How to Reach Andaman

By Air: Veer Savarkar International Airport in Port Blair is well-connected to Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Direct flights are available from these cities. Book flights early if traveling in the first two weeks of June when post-exam demand pushes prices up.

By Sea: Regular ships operate from Chennai, Kolkata, and Visakhapatnam to Port Blair. The journey takes around 50 to 60 hours. Ship schedules can be irregular in monsoon. Check the Directorate of Shipping Services website before planning a sea route.
